Among the places that are still little known by tourists are the nature protection zones of Uzbekistan. How to make them more attractive and comfortable for them - our correspondent talks about this with the international expert on tourism development in the field of nature protection zones Juris Smalinskis. Juris Smalinskis - international expert, employee of the Latvian Rural Tourism Association. He has a Master's degree in Biology from the University of Latvia, is a consultant on tourism in nature protection zones of the Ministry of Environment Protection and the Ministry of Economy of Latvia, has solid experience as a guide. Since 2003, at Vidzeme University of Applied Sciences, he has been teaching disciplines in the field of tourism in nature protection zones, ecological tourism and the development of sustainable tourism. Juris is the author of over 250 scientific and popular articles, as well as over 50 travel guides and maps, co-author of many books. As a traveler, Smalinskis has traveled to 60 countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. This is not the first time in Uzbekistan. For the first time about ten years ago he came here as a biologist, he was interested in the ecosystems of our deserts. This time he came as a trainer on tourism development in nature protected areas within the framework of the European Union project "Strengthening rural and ecotourism through business associations for sustainable economic development in Central Asia" and conducted trainings organized by the Association of private tourism agenciess of Uzbekistan for representatives of government agencies responsible for the protection of nature and the development of tourism.
