Aziz Abdukhakimov congratulated participants of Cultural Heritage Week

Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov on behalf of the Government of Uzbekistan congratulated the participants of the Cultural Heritage Week on the international holiday.

In his speech, Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan paid special attention to this prestigious conference, which has become a tradition today, and stressed the importance of its significance.

In this regard, the personal participation of UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoul in the 2019 Uzbekistan Cultural Heritage Week has further increased the international prestige of the event.

An important event is that the Congress is attended by representatives of official circles and international organizations, more than 300 famous foreign scientists from more than 40 countries of the world and more than 1000 scientists and specialists from our country.

“It will always be useful to cooperate with you, specialists who have shown great interest in the idea of creating a new Renaissance fund voiced by the President of Uzbekistan and are united in its implementation. We are proud that the national heritage of the people of Uzbekistan is an integral part of the heritage of mankind and an important part of it. In this sense, we are deeply aware of the responsibility for the preservation and protection of the history of our country, for the preservation of the history of mankind and its transmission to future generations, ”Aziz Abdukhakimov said in his speech.

It was noted that tourism, which today has become an important sector of the economy in Uzbekistan, especially international tourism, directly depends on how well we preserve our cultural heritage, since foreign tourists visit our country with an interest in our history and cultural heritage.

Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that in recent years a number of measures have been taken to protect cultural heritage, but much remains to be done. In this process, in particular, it was noted that UNESCO and its World Heritage Center are closely cooperating with Uzbekistan.

“Given the role of civil society institutions in protecting cultural heritage, we call on today's participants to cooperate in preserving our historic cities of Khiva, Bukhara, Samarkand and Shakhrisabz, which are recognized as World Heritage Sites. Cooperation with you will be invaluable for the effective implementation of UNESCO conventions and recommendations in our country, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Further, Aziz Abdukhakimov invited all scientists to the international forum "Central Asia at the crossroads of world civilizations", which will be held in 2021 in the ancient city of Khiva, which is a world heritage site.
