"Planning an annual event in Central Asia": A meeting of the Green Tourism Working Group was held

On December 2 of this year, a meeting of the Green Tourism Working Group on the topic “Planning an annual event in Central Asia” was held at the Grand Capital Hotel in the Tashkent.
 
The event was organized by ACTED as part of the European Union's Switch Asia Programme.
 
The purpose of the meeting is to contribute to the strengthening of the Working Group on Green Tourism, established within the framework of the project "Promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Production in the Community Based Tourism Sector in Central Asia", funded by the Switch Asia Program, identifying specific actions in cooperation with public and private stakeholders that support sustainable development and which can be showcased once a year as part of a Central Asia event dedicated to sustainable tourism.
 
The event was attended by representatives of ACTED, Mascontour (Germany), the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Community Based Tourism Association (KCBTA), the Tajik Community Based Tourism Association (TCBTA), the Pamir Ethnocultural Tourism Association(PECTA), the Union of Tourism community-based (CBT) Murgab district (Tajikistan), specialists in eco-certification.

The session considered a number of interrelated components and points of view related to:
- networking, communication and coordination / unification of efforts of the countries of Central Asia;
- exchange of knowledge about sustainable tourism, energy efficiency, renewable energy sources;
- attraction of foreign visitors for interaction in B2B format;
- raising awareness of the local population;
- eco-certification;
- lobbying for a sustainable tourism program.

At the end of the event, the results of the meeting were summed up.
