King of Spain received Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan

During his visit to Spain, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development Aziz Abdukhakimov was received by King Philip VI.
King Philip VI of Spain hosted an official reception in honor of the heads of foreign delegations at his Palacio Real de Madrid residence. In the introductory part of the event, the role of tourism in the Spanish economy, its contribution to employment, as well as the importance of this industry in the development of international cooperation and in the formation of a post-pandemic economy were discussed.
After the official events, a personal meeting of the King of Spain with the head of the Uzbek delegation took place. On behalf of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the entire Uzbek people, Aziz Abdukhakimov sent greetings to the King of Spain and his family, as well as to the Spanish people.
King Philip VI, in turn, warmly recalled his meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in June 2017 in Astana, which took place within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
The King of Spain noted that the friendly relations between Spain and Uzbekistan have a long history dating back to the visit of Rui Gonzalez de Clavijo of the Ambassador of the King of Castile (Spain) to Samarkand six centuries ago and his meeting with Amir Temur.
“As a further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries, the sides discussed the possibility of supplying Uzbekistan with two more Talgo trains of Spanish production, which connect the major tourist cities of the country. The King of Spain expressed interest in the implementation of this initiative,” Aziz Abdukhakimov said.
The King of Spain also expressed a desire to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan after the improvement of the pandemic situation.
