The Ministry of Sports will be merged with the State Committee for Tourism
The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports will be transferred to the State Committee for Tourism Development. Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov will temporarily lead the Ministry of Sports. This was stated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a video conference on Wednesday, the correspondent of "Gazeta.uz" reports.
“You know the situation below, many sports facilities are not used, the efficiency is below 50%. They must work around the clock,” the Head of State said to the Deputy Prime Minister.
The Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports was established in February 2018 on the basis of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Sports Dilmurod Nabiyev was relieved of his post and appointed rector of Karshi State University.
A year earlier, in February 2017, the Ministry of Culture and the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports were formed on the basis of the abolished Ministry of Culture and Sports. The presidential decree then noted that the unification of the spheres of culture and sports in one ministry turned out to be ineffective.
