Samarkand high potential CBT tourism is waiting for only positive impulses

The balanced territorial development of the Republic of Uzbekistan presupposes an orientation towards providing conditions that allow each region to have the necessary and sufficient resources for a decent life of citizens, comprehensive development and increasing the competitiveness of the regional economy. The development of the tourism potential of the hotel business, especially in rural regions of the country, is a necessary component of socio-economic development in the short and long term. An important direction in the development of the country's tourism potential is the development of unique, in terms of filling and serving, tourism products. In addition, it is important for the success of the enterprise to increase the level of knowledge of entrepreneurs in the field of financial management.

Taking into account the relevance of this issue, the Association of private tourism agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) has developed a project "Development of CBT tourism in Uzbekistan by increasing professional competencies of rural residents", the implementation of which will help to increase the potential of the tourism business in Uzbekistan. The implementation of the project will create conditions for new jobs, for the development of entrepreneurship and the business environment, increasing the income of rural residents, and will also contribute to the professional, creative and personal realization of women in the countryside. The APTA project application was supported by USAID's Future Growth Initiative.

Within the framework of the project, a number of informational meetings were organized in promising CBT tourism destinations in the Samarkand region, where it is planned to conduct trainings for entrepreneurs. The representatives of APTA informed the residents of the villages "Konigil", "Bogi Baland" and "Tersak" about the training program and promising areas of interaction. Participants of the informational meetings expressed high interest in the topics of the trainings and stated that they would take an active part in the event.

In “Konigil” makhalla you can become a hero of historical reconstructions

There are unique places in the Samarkand region and one of them is the tourist village of Konigil, which is only 13 km away. from Samarkand. And therefore, tourists try to be sure to visit this interesting tourist destination. It is famous for its unique handicraft traditions, pristine nature, shady trees, and the Siab River flowing nearby. Today, the main attraction of this corner is the Meros factory, where paper production is carried out, but in the near future the range of offers for tourists will be significantly expanded. New tourist routes, craft centers and family guesthouses will appear here. This means that assistance in improving knowledge and skills will be needed, which will be facilitated by the trainings of the project "Development of CBT tourism in Uzbekistan by increasing the professional competencies of rural residents."

A national ceramic craft workshop is organized behind the Konigil Meros paper mill. In this workshop, artisans continue the work of such great masters as Umar Zhurakulov, Mansurzhon Nosirov, Ilham Bobomurodov. There are also master classes for visitors - everyone can take a direct part in the process of making ceramics. Visitors can also watch the process of cooking Konigil rice at the mill, take part in the preparation of national dishes and taste vegetables and fruits from local fields and orchards.

Mahalla "Bogi Baland" is a prime example of agritourism with a rich historical heritage

"Bogy Baland" is one of the famous gardens in Samarkand, founded by Amir Temur. It is located on the left bank of the Zarafshan River, on the slope of the Chupon-ota hill. The area of this garden, where figs are grown, has 40 hectares. Tourists have a unique opportunity to get acquainted with 200-300-year-old fig trees, take a direct part in the collection of this fruit and taste the unique taste of this perishable product.

At the present time, in the makhalla "Bogi Baland", a program is being actively implemented to form a tourist component, which will be aimed at attracting guests of Samarkand. On the territory of the makhalla "Bogi Baland" on Anzhirzor Street, work is being carried out to form the activities of guest houses, animation centers and consumer service points. And also actively develop agro- and ecotourism. Thus, it is planned to transform this area into the most densely populated tourist area by creating additional services for local and foreign tourists. Given the growth in the number of family guest houses, adequate support for the educational component is required, as well as an increase in the level of knowledge of entrepreneurs in the field of financial management and hotel service.

Ethno village (Kishlak) "Tersak" - a place of multilingual communication

Currently, work is in full swing on the creation of tourist zones, namely a tourist mahallah on the territory of "Bogi Baland", a tourist village on the territory of "Konigil" in Samarkand region. Also, work is underway to create an ethno-village (ethno-kishlak) on the territory of the Tersak in Urgut region, which is an attractive tourist destination for foreign travelers. And this is positively deposited on the linguistic abilities of local residents. The majority of the population speaks English and French

Tourists are attracted by the unique nature, rich flora and fauna. The majestic mountains of Zarafshan seem to be guarding this beautiful landscape. And the famous Uzbek hospitality combines all the ingredients into an attractive tourist product that attracts guests from all over the world. Supply is formed according to demand. The number of people wishing to open their own family guest house and gain stable additional income is growing. This means that there is a growing need for new knowledge that can be obtained within the framework of trainings that are organized by APTA in the process of implementing the project "Development of CBT tourism in Uzbekistan by increasing the professional competencies of rural residents."
