The entrepreneur from the city of Samarkand (Republic of Uzbekistan) Narzullaev Farhod Ilkhomovich is a businessman with experience in the field of public catering. Farhod Ilkhomovich, a financier by education, began to master a new direction in business - accommodation and food in 2022. The desire to achieve the set goal, the experience of working as a restaurateur and the support of his family contributed to the successful development of the family business in the field of hospitality. At present, Farhod Ilkhomovich is the owner of the family guest house "Xan". The guest house has been awarded the category "two stars".

Narzullaev Farhod Ilhomovich was born in Samarkand. In 2000, Farhod Ilhomovich graduated from secondary school no. 2 in Samarkand, and then in 2003 he successfully graduated from the Samarkand Financial College. In 2021, Farhod Ilhomovich decided to improve the level of his education and entered the Tajik State University of Commerce.

Until mid-2022, Farhod Ilhamovich successfully worked in the field of catering, but interest in tourism gave rise to work in a new direction.

"The tourism sector in Uzbekistan is developing at a very high speed and offers great prospects for the future. Until May 2022, I was the owner of a diet food restaurant in Samarkand. My decision to try my hand at tourism and start a family business in the hospitality industry was supported by all members of my family. A family guest house is a good “source of income” for a family, a business with a future" ,- said the owner of the Xan family guest house.

To implement their idea, Farhod Ilhomovich and his family studied the legal basis for organizing a family business in the field of hospitality, the management of a family guest house, the provision of accommodation and catering services, and additional services.

The family guest house "Xan" began operations on May 16, 2022. The family guest house has its own history.

"The choice of the name "Xan" (Khon) was not accidental. Based on the etymology of famous scientists such as Khoja Akhrori Vali, Makhdumi Azam, Yassaviy, this word referred to the name of representatives of a high mentality, intelligence, and advanced leaders. By naming our guest house this way, we are sure that it will be a symbol of hospitality, high service and culture, a leader in the field of tourism" , - Farhod Ilkhomovich noted.

After the opening of the family home, the owner and his family began to promote their accommodation and food services on platforms like booking.com and Planet of Hotels. They participated in seminars for community-based tourism (CBT) to improve their skills.

"The first steps were quite difficult, as there was no experience in this area. But, gradually, the work improved. Practice with guests has taught us a lot and thanks to the experience gained, our services have become better. All family members try to contribute to the further development of the business. For example, my eldest son took over the functions of receiving and accommodating tourists. He knows English and communicates fluently with foreign guests who speak English. Guests who come to our house are satisfied with the service",-  Farhod  Ilhomovich said.

In 2023, through the information channels of Association of private tourism agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA), Farhod Ilhamovich learned about the USAID's Future Growth Initiative Project (FGI), implemented by APTA. They joined the training seminar for owners of family guest houses: "Classification of family guest houses - as effective tool for attracting tourists". Participation in this seminar made it possible to study the issues of classification in tourism, classification of accommodation facilities, quality of service and competitiveness.

In May 2023, the family guest house became one of the participants in the family guest house classification pilot project, also implemented by APTA under the USAID's Future Growth Initiative Project (FGI). As a result of the classification, the family guest house "Xan" was awarded the category "two stars".

Farhod Ilkhomovich plans for the future to expand the family business in the field of hospitality. First, to continue to develop his guest house and to achieve a higher level of service quality. And secondly, the opening of a boutique hotel.
