Andjali Kaur has gave an interview to the

Deputy Assistant Administrator of the US Agency for International Development for Asia Anjali Kaur spoke in an interview with Gazeta.uz about how she visited Uzbekistan on August 26-30, in particular about her visit to the Darvozai Samarkand family guest house.

Let us remind you that on August 27, 2023, a delegation of 10 people led by USAID’s Asia Bureau Deputy Administrator Assistant Anajli Kaur visited the family guest house “Darvozai Samarkand” as part of the USAID project for the development of entrepreneurship and the business environment (FGI).

During the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the results of the FGI project, which was implemented by the Association of Private Tourism Organizations of Uzbekistan.

“Uzbekistan is one of my favorite countries, and I am very happy to return here. Before that, I was here last May and visited Tashkent and Bukhara. This time I was in Tashkent again and was able to visit Samarkand. And I can note changes for myself, for USAID and changes in general in Uzbekistan. Among the major changes is the growing partnership between USAID and the government. This can be seen in our programs, our work, our cooperation.

I was able to see the impact of our programs. In Samarkand, I visited the tourist sites that we support. We were in guest houses where foreigners and guests from other regions of Uzbekistan can feel the life of Samarkand.

It is important for USAID to support projects like this so that more people can experience the beauty and culture of Uzbekistan in a variety of ways, and that local communities benefit from it.

For example, the owner of the guest house where we stayed told us how he plans to expand it. His neighbors also want to open guest houses because they see that people prefer them to hotels. And this brings great benefits to families”, Anajli Kaur told the correspondent.
