New companies will be created on the basis of Uzbekistan Temir Yollari
By the end of this year, it is planned to create separate companies for infrastructure, freight cars and logistics, passenger transportation (separately for high-speed trains) and station management.
This is provided for by the decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dated October 10 on radical reform of the railway transport sector.
According to Gazeta.uz correspondents, the following companies will be created:
- JSC "Temiryulinfratuzilma" - to ensure the functioning of road facilities, power supply facilities, signaling and communications, locomotive facilities, a unified dispatch center and freight stations, as well as their development;
- Temiryulcargo JSC – for the provision of cargo transportation services, maintenance and development of freight wagons and containers, organization of multimodal door-to-door transportation, logistics centers and terminals;
- JSC "Temiryulexpress" - for the provision of services for the transportation of passengers by high-speed trains, as well as the maintenance and development of the high-speed train economy;
- Temir yul vokzallari LLC - to ensure the activities of stations and Shahar atrophida yulovchi tashish LLC for suburban transportation (in the structure of Oztemiryulyulovchi JSC);
- Institution “Temir yul izhtimoiy hizmatlar” – for the maintenance of children’s camps, healthcare facilities, cultural, educational and sports facilities.
In addition, three stations in Uzbekistan are planned to be developed within the framework of a public-private partnership. We are talking about the stations of Tashkent, Samarkand and Kokand. The Ministry of Transport, together with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, was instructed to develop a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the implementation of station development projects on the basis of PPP.
“The changes are aimed at creating a healthy competitive environment, attracting private investment into the industry, introducing modern management methods and improving the quality, safety and reliability of services,” the document says.
