Sustainable Tourism Development in Uzbekistan: New Horizons Opened

A cycle of seminars and trainings on sustainable tourism has been completed in Tashkent. In particular, from May 2 to 3, two-day training seminars on “Travelife” program were held for tour operators of Uzbekistan.

These sustainable tourism training seminars were organized by the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) under the USAID's Future Growth Initiative Project. These events are designed to raise awareness and competencies in the field of sustainable tourism among tour operators.

Expert Anula Galewska was engaged as a leading speaker in the field of sustainable tourism. Her knowledge and experience became an important source of information for the participants, allowing them to gain a deep understanding of the main aspects of sustainability in tourism.

The training participants engaged with lots of various aspects of sustainable tourism, from an introduction to the concept and role of the tour operator, to practical skills in sustainability management and the use of the Travelife platform.

The aim of the seminars was not only to educate, but also to create a launching pad for further development of sustainable tourism in Uzbekistan. They became a starting point for further steps towards certification, future research, projects and cooperation in this field.

The outcome of the training seminars was the ceremony of awarding certificates to the participants, confirming their professional knowledge, as well as their readiness for certification and implementation of sustainable development practices in their activities.

Thus, the completion of the cycle of training seminars was an important step towards sustainable tourism development in Uzbekistan. It emphasizes the readiness of the industry to accept the challenges of the modern world and the desire to create a more sustainable, responsible and favorable environment for tourism development in the country.
