Classification of Family Guest Houses: Training Seminar for CBT Representatives in the Easternmost Point of the Country

On May 14 of this year, a training seminar for CBT (Community-Based Tourism) representatives, organized under USAID's Future Growth Initiative project, was held in Khanabad, located in Andijan region. The event brought together representatives of the tourism sector to discuss and learn how to classify family guesthouses, which is an important step to improve the quality of services and attract tourists.
The city of Khanabad, chosen for the seminar, was not by chance the venue for the CBT representatives. This green corner in the mountainous area with a convenient location has a high potential to become a resort center of Andijan region. The city is known for its picturesque nature and opportunities for tourism development. That is why the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) decided to conduct training for representatives of family guest houses here.
The training seminar was organized by APTA with the support of the Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Regional Department for Tourism Development of Andijan region.During the event, APTA experts conducted advocacy work aimed at improving the work of family guesthouses. The seminar participants were familiarized with important topics such as: “Classification in tourism”, “Classification of family guesthouses”, “Parameters and criteria for assessing the quality of services, ‘Classifier development: The process of creating a classification system’, ‘Approbation of the classifier variant: Practical application of the developed system’.
Special attention was paid to the presentation of the classifier variant and the sign of rating stars, which can be used to assess the quality of services provided by family guesthouses. This innovation is intended to help tourists in choosing accommodation and to increase the competitiveness of family guesthouses.
The training workshop ended with the presentation of certificates to all participants confirming successful completion of the training. This certificate is an important recognition of their commitment to improving service and raising hospitality standards.
