Working meeting with entrepreneurs of Andijan region

On July 11, 2024, specialists of Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) held a working meeting with representatives of tourism business in Andijan. The meeting was held within the framework of the "APTA Networking Club" initiated under The USAID Future Growth Initiative.

This event marked the start of the "APTA Networking Club" series of meetings as a discussion platform for representatives of the tourism industry in Uzbekistan. The meeting discussed topical issues and problems in the tourism industry of the region.

The main topics discussed were:
- Development of sports tourism: bicycle tours, water sports, tent camps, etc. Discussed routes and potential for various types of tourism, including water, mountain, bicycle and auto/motorized tourism. It was noted that there is a lack of qualified instructors and overnight accommodation.

- Development and training: the issue of training of tourism professionals was raised. Programs of field training of specialists in mountainous areas and preferential training of tour operators with at least 2-3 years of experience were discussed.

Transportation services: the issues of improving transportation infrastructure for tourists in Andijan region were considered.

"APTA Networking Club" meeting with entrepreneurs allowed identifying the main problems and outlining ways to solve them. It is important to continue work on improving the quality of tourism services and infrastructure, as well as to pay attention to training and certification of specialists in the field of tourism.
