“APTA Networking Club” meeting in Bukhara: discussion of tourism industry development

On July 25 this year in Bukhara city, in the hotel “Wyndham Bukhara”, a meeting of “APTA Networking Club” was held. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives of the travel industry, including tour operators, representatives of hotels, family guest houses and guides.

To ensure a productive dialogue, experts from the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) and representatives of government agencies, including representatives of the Bukhara Region Hokimiyat and the Bukhara Region Tourism Development Department, were invited to the event.

The event was organized by the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) under The USAID Future Growth Initiative. Important support was provided by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Bukhara Region Tourism Development Authority.

During the meeting APTA experts discussed the new Presidential Decree “On additional measures to improve tourism infrastructure and further increase the flow of foreign tourists to the Republic of Uzbekistan” (Decree № 102 from 18.07.2024).
The head of the department of investment attraction and work with entrepreneurs of the Tourism Department of Bukhara region made a presentation “Tourism potential of Bukhara region”.

APTA experts made a presentation, in which they provided information on ongoing projects and initiatives aimed at improving tourism infrastructure.

Such important topics as transportation logistics, training of tour operators, development of a project supporting travel-journalism and travel-bloggers, increasing the number of beds up to 20 in family guest houses, as well as the development of new tourist products of Bukhara region were discussed at the meeting.

Special attention was paid to the proposal of one of the entrepreneurs to give the status of a tourist village to Shirin settlement, located in Vabken district. This proposal provoked lively discussions, as Shirin has a unique cultural and natural potential, which can attract a significant number of tourists and contribute to the development of the local economy.

The unfolding discussion among the participants of the event allowed to identify existing problems and propose specific initiatives for their solution. Responsible officers promptly responded to the voiced questions, which facilitated constructive dialog and development of joint solutions.

“APTA Networking Club” meeting played a key role in discussing pressing issues and forming strategies for the development of the tourism industry in Bukhara region. The participants of the event highly appreciated its significance, expressing confidence in further fruitful cooperation and prosperity of tourism in the region.
