The "Chambil" family guesthouse in Shakhrisabz, Kashkadarya region, is a corner of hospitality created through the persistence and hard work of Samiya Akhmedova.
Born in 1957, Samiya graduated from the Karshi Polytechnic Institute and worked as an accountant for many years. However, her love for tourism and the history of her hometown inspired her to change her profession. In 2018, she received a diploma in tourism, which became the starting point for creating her own family guesthouse.
Together with her daughter and grandmother, Samiya transformed the family home into a cozy “Chambil”, which name means “greenery” and symbolizes the nature that surrounds the house.
Soon after opening, the family business became popular with tourists not only from Uzbekistan, but also from abroad. Visitors vacationed in this quiet corner and were always satisfied with the level of service.
A significant step in business development happened in 2023, when Samiya started cooperation with the Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA).
In the spring of 2024, she took part in a training workshop on classification of family guesthouses organized under the USAID Future Growth Initiative.
Having passed all the stages of classification, in the same year the "Chambil" family guesthouse received the two-star category, which was a great success for Samia and her family.
However, Samiya Akhmedova's plans do not end here. In the future she plans to expand the family business, improve the level of service and attract more tourists.
The Chambil family guest house is not only a family business, but also a symbol of perseverance, which shows how love and persistence can turn a dream into reality.
