In accordance with the order of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to hold a high-level summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan organized a plein air in the city of Samarkand, in which famous artists from the SCO member countries came to participate, as the press service of the Ministry tourism and cultural heritage reports.

Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that artists, as part of the plein air, will depict the sights of Uzbekistan for two weeks. In Samarkand, artists paint pictures from such monuments as the mausoleum of Amir Temur, the Registan ensemble, the Bibi-Khanum madrasah, the Hazrat Khizr mosque, the Shahi-Zinda complex, the Siab market, the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, and depict such cultural heritage sites such as the Afrosiab Museum, Samarkand State Reserve, Museum of Local Lore.

Famous artists will reflect in their canvases the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan, the sights of Samarkand and Bukhara. Artists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Iran and China also took participation in the plein air. The result of their work will be four crafts of art, which will be presented at an international exhibition within the framework of the SCO summit.

For information: the SCO official website launched the “100 Days of Uzbekistan” project, within which every day before the start date of the summit, that is, September 16, 2022, new photographs dedicated to the history, culture, traditions and landscapes of Uzbekistan are regularly published.
