Aziz Abdukhakimov discussing cooperation with Japan in the fields of tourism, sports and education

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov met with the President of Tsukuba Nagata Kyosuke University during his visit to Japan.

During the meeting, both parties noted the extremely fruitful impact of the high-level visit in December 2019 on improving bilateral cooperation in tourism, sport and education. It was emphasized that the group of partner universities is gradually expanding on both sides, new fields of interaction are emerging and large scientific projects are being implemented together.

During the talks, the question of opening a joint Uzbek-Japanese university in Uzbekistan in the fields of biotechnology, medicine and information technology was discussed. If successful, it is planned to cover further educational areas in the future, taking into account the interests and needs of the partners.

Aziz Abdukhakimov noted that thanks to the support of the country's leadership, higher education in the country is improving. With the opening of branches in Uzbekistan by foreign universities, the number of higher education institutions in the republic has almost doubled in recent years. At the same time, it was found that the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JAYKA) also reacted very positively at a recent meeting to the Uzbek side's proposal to open a joint university in the republic.

The management of the Japanese university has also agreed to cooperate with the International Tourism University "Silk Road", the parties are planning a scientific exchange, joint research and an exchange of literature.

Taking into account the availability of a Master's degree in Sports and Olympic Studies at Tsukuba University, the establishment of relations between Tsukuba University and the Uzbek State University of Physical Education and Sports in the areas of "Paralympic Education", "Sports Management", "Teaching, Coaching" has been established and Japanese culture "discussed.

The participation of Uzbek students in the scholarship programs of Tsukuba University was also discussed during the meeting. K. Nagata pointed out that the Japanese University offers Uzbek master’s students the opportunity to participate in the "Special Program in Japanese and Eurasian Studies".

It was with great interest that K. Nagata received the invitation to take part in the presidential elections in Uzbekistan as an observer. He thanked for the great honor and stated that, given the high level of bilateral relations and the extraordinary importance of the current elections, he would take all measures to participate in them.
