Exciting meetings and exchange of experience: visit of U.S. expert Alex Ward to Uzbekistan
With the assistance of Association of Private Tourism Agencies of Uzbekistan (APTA) and Advantour tour operator, with the support of American Councils and the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, U.S. expert Alex Ward arrived in Uzbekistan. His visit was a significant event within the framework of the Tashkent International Tourism Fair “Tourism on the Silk Road-2024”, where he took part in a panel discussion entitled “Travel Agent Training: Modern Approaches to Sales and Customer Service - USAID” on November 21, 2024.
Alex Ward, Executive Director of the "Old Town San Diego" tourism district in the United States, moderated and spoke on the panel discussion. His main focus was on the promotion of tourist centers and preservation of cultural heritage. The expert shared his extensive experience in managing cultural events, marketing and economic development projects that support local businesses and preserve the authenticity of historic neighborhoods.
In addition to participating in the fair, Alex Ward gave a lecture at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand. As part of his presentation, he discussed the importance of integrating cultural heritage into modern tourism strategies, emphasizing the significance of such efforts for the sustainable development of local communities and their economies.
